Xiangxiang Zeng, Ph.D.

Next Position: Yuelu Distinguished Professor, Dept. of Computer Science, Hunan University

Short biography: My research work is relevant about  machine learning, data mining, computational intelligence, bioinformatics and precision medicine. Before joining Hunan University in 2019, I worked at the Department of Computer Science in Xiamen University. I received my Ph.D. degree in system engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, in 2011. I have served as a visiting scholar in Indiana University, CityU of Hongkong, Oklahoma State University and Harvard Medical School. From 2016 to 2018, I worked as a Juan de la Cerva Scholar in Polytechnic University of Madrid. I have published more than 70 papers on journals and conferences such as Neural Computation, Bioinformatics, PLoS Computational Biology, Briefings in Bioinformatics and IEEE Trans. Cybernetics. According to google scholar citation, my research works were cited more than 2,700 times.

Short biography: I got my bachelor’s and master's degrees in Materials Physics from Sichuan University and Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS), respectively. Then, I moved to Australia to obtain my Ph.D. degree in Optics from Macquarie University. My research interest covers waveguide lasers, ultrafast spectroscopy, and 2D materials. Now, I am working on developing high-resolution quantitative phase microscopy for label-free biomedical imaging.

Short biography: I got my bachelor's degree from Taiyuan University of Technology and my PhD degree from South China Normal University. My research interests covers intelligent microscopic technologies, computational imaging technologies and the beautiful physical-mathematical model behind them. My favorite sports is swimming and hiking. I am also known as a big fan of the background story of Warhammer 40K.

I am interested in applying AI techniques to biomedical data processing in the hope of making human life better. In my free time, I like reading, painting, and traveling. 

Yanqing Xu, Ph.D.

Short biography: I am interested in the study of how dysregulation of lipid metabolism contributes to metabolic diseases, and the biomedical applications of state-of-the art optical imaging techniques that can improve our human life. I obtained my doctoral degree from the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of New South Wales in 2019. 

Jianming Chen, Ph.D.

Short biography: I obtained my Ph.D degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2018. After finishing one-year postdoc in the same university, I take another postdoctoral position at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I like playing basketball. My research interests are interdisciplinary, including the fiber spinning, textile-based sensors, shape memory polymers, silk-based materials and drug delivery. Currently, I mainly focus on the label-free optical imaging for functional applications.

Kaiqiang Wang

Short biography: I received the bachelor's and PhD degrees from the Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2016 and 2022, respectively. My main research direction during my Ph.D. was deep-learning-based phase recovery/retrieval. My research interests include computational imaging and deep learning.

Yijin Wang

Short biography: I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. After graduation, I joined a pharmaceutical enterprise named Yunnan Baiyao Group Co., Ltd, where I worked as a medical project specialist, mainly conducting clinical projects. My research interest is in investigating optical strategies that obtain a high spatial and temporal resolution, high sensitivity, high contrast, and high speed to remotely and non-invasively control intracellular processes.

I have mainly studied courses in optics, mechanics and electronics. I am very interested in microscopic imaging. In my spare time I often play the Chinese national musical instrument Ruan. I did my PhD study in Biomedical Engineering between 2019-2023.

Short biography: I got my bachelor's degree from Sichuan University in 2017 majoring in Electrical Engineering and Automation. Then I serve as an intern in Medical Imaging and Health Center, Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen from 2017 to 2018. In August 2018, I become a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering in CUHK. I like traveling, spicy food and novels. My research interests include optical image analysis, biomedical image processing and its practical application. I hope to do something to help illness diagnosis and treatment.

Short biography: I got my bachelor's and PhD degrees both in Biomedical Engineering from Wu Yuzhang Honors college of Sichuan University in 2018 and The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2022, respectively. I am outgoing and have wide interests, include photography, sports, drawing and so on. My research interests include biomedical imaging especially microscopic imaging and image processing. I hope to explore better methods in disease diagnosis by using microscopy.

I enjoy different sorts of sports,drawing and reading. My research interests include image processing, computer-aided diagnosis and microscope technology for live bioimaging. I am exploring the application of label-free light microscopy and hope to provide significant basis for early detection of some diseases.

Short biography: My name is Cheng Zheng, a master student majored in optical engineering at Zhejiang University. I got my bachelor degree from Zhejiang University. My research interest includes quantitative phase imaging and super resolution imaging. I am jointly supervised by Prof. Renjie Zhou on quantitative phase imaging and we have done many work together. Recently I am working on solving inverse problems in microscopy with optimization algorithms to achieve super resolution.

Dipanjana Saha

Short biography: I did my Bachelor’s in electronics science (honours). Meanwhile, I developed an interest in optics, which motivated me do a post B.Sc. B.Tech. in optics and optoelectronics from the Department of Applied Optics and Photonics, University of Calcutta, India. My master’s degree was in “Masters in Technology in Optics and Optoelectronics” from the same department. After that I have worked as Junior Research Fellow in Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Hyderabad, India. There I have worked on a project which involves design and development of intense, narrow bandwidth and broadly tunable mid-IR radiation sources. These will be useful for high resolution spectroscopy and state selective preparation of molecules in molecular beams. I have also worked on A project to develop a Laser Wavemeter with solid Fizeau Interferometer of resolution I in range”. Apart from studies I like to play flute, Indian classical music, painting and reading poems and novels.

Then I studied in Tianjin University with a major in Instrument Science and Technology in the subsequent three years and got my master degree in 2017. I am friendly, outgoing, open-mind and diligent.
